Introduction
Many Muslims prefer to distribute their Zakat throughout the year in monthly payments or advance lump sums before their Zakat anniversary.
In Fatawa Razawiyyah (Volume 10 - Ta'jeel-uz-Zakat) and Bahar-e-Shariat (Part 5), Aala Hazrat Imam Ahmad Raza Khan (Ψ±ΨΩ Ω Ψ§ΩΩΩ ΨΉΩΩΩ) confirms the validity of advancing Zakat payments under specific Shariah conditions.
Section 1: Conditions for Valid Advance Payment
- Possessing Nisab at Time of Advance: You must already own Nisab when making the advance payment.
- Clear Intention (Niyyah): Intention of Zakat must be present when advancing funds.
- End-of-Year Reconciliation: On your actual Zakat anniversary date, perform a full calculation:
- If advanced payments < actual Zakat due: Pay the remaining shortfall immediately.
- If advanced payments > actual Zakat due: The excess can be carried forward as advance payment for the next year.
