Section 1: The Requirement of Intention (Niyyah)
- Timing: Niyyah must exist when handing money to the recipient or when setting aside Zakat funds.
- Discretion: You do not need to tell the recipient "This is Zakat." You can offer it as a gift, bonus, or assistance to preserve their dignity.
Section 2: Direct Distribution vs. Appointing an Agent (Wakil)
You may distribute Zakat directly or appoint a trustworthy agent (Wakil) or verified organization to distribute it on your behalf.
