Welcome to SalahLive (also referred to as “Prayer Connect”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). We operate the SalahLive mobile application and website (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service. Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this policy, please discontinue use of the Service.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following categories of information:

Information You Provide

• Account information (if you register): name, email address, and password.
• Masjid administrator details: organisation name, contact information, and prayer schedule data submitted through the admin panel.
• Contact form submissions: name, email, and message content when you contact us for support.

Information Collected Automatically

• Location data (with your permission): used to find nearby mosques and calculate prayer times.
• Device information: device model, operating system version, app version, and unique device identifiers.
• Usage data: pages visited, features used, and in-app actions for improving the Service.
• Log data: IP address, browser type, and access timestamps when using the web platform.

2. Location Permission

SalahLive requests access to your device’s location to:

• Calculate accurate prayer times for your precise location.
• Discover mosques nearest to you, sorted by distance.
• Display the correct Qibla direction relative to your position.

Location access is requested at the time you first use location-dependent features. You can revoke this permission at any time through your device settings. Revoking location access will disable location-based features but will not affect your ability to manually search for cities and masjids.

We do not store or share your real-time location. Location data is processed on-device or transmitted to our prayer-time calculation service exclusively to generate prayer times and is not retained beyond that request.

3. Device Information

We collect device information to ensure the app functions correctly across different hardware and operating systems, to diagnose crash reports, and to provide relevant support. This includes device model, OS version, app version, screen resolution, and language settings. We do not use this information to uniquely identify you for advertising purposes.

4. Prayer Time Preferences

Your prayer time preferences — including your selected home masjid, saved masjids, and calculation method preferences — are stored locally on your device using SQLite. If you are signed in, a minimal version of these preferences may be synchronised to our servers to enable continuity across devices. This data is not shared with third parties.

5. Notifications

With your permission, SalahLive may send push notifications for:

• Prayer time reminders (Azan and Jamaat alerts).
• Masjid announcements from your home masjid.
• Community announcements relevant to your region.
• Ramadan Sehri and Iftar time reminders.

You can manage or disable notifications at any time through your device settings or within the app. We use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to deliver push notifications.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

On the web platform (salahlive.com), we use cookies and local storage to:

• Maintain your session if you are logged in.
• Remember your language and display preferences.
• Analyse page traffic through analytics tools.

You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, but some features of the website may not function correctly as a result. We do not use cookies to track you across third-party websites.

7. Analytics

We use analytics services to understand how users interact with the app and website so we can improve the Service. Analytics data is aggregated and anonymised where possible. We may use:

• Firebase Analytics — for in-app event tracking (e.g., which features are most used).
• Server-side logging — for API performance and error monitoring.

Analytics data is used solely for improving the Service and is not sold or shared with third parties for their marketing purposes.

8. Advertisement Providers

SalahLive may display advertisements from local sponsors and third-party advertising networks to support the free Service.

Local Sponsor Ads

Advertisements from local businesses and Islamic organisations are managed directly by SalahLive and targeted by geographic coverage (city, state, or country). No personally identifiable information is shared with local advertisers.

Google AdMob

We may use Google AdMob to serve advertisements within the mobile application. AdMob may collect and use data as described in Google’s Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalised advertising through your device’s ad settings (Limit Ad Tracking on iOS / Opt out of Ads Personalisation on Android).

9. Third-Party Services

SalahLive integrates with the following third-party services. Each service has its own privacy policy governing its use of your data:

• Google Maps Platform — for map display and place search. Google Privacy Policy
• Firebase (Google) — for cloud messaging, analytics, and optional authentication. Firebase Privacy
• AlAdhan API — for prayer time calculation. No personal data is transmitted beyond geographic coordinates.
• Supabase / PostgreSQL — for backend database hosting.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

10. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure servers hosted within industry-standard cloud infrastructure. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, including:

• Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS).
• Password hashing using bcrypt.
• Role-based access controls for administrative data.
• Regular security reviews and dependency updates.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data (subject to legal obligations).
• Portability: Request your data in a portable format.
• Objection: Object to certain uses of your data, including for analytics.
• Withdrawal: Withdraw consent for optional data processing at any time.

12. Children’s Privacy

SalahLive is designed for general audiences and is used by families and children as part of their Islamic education. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete the information.

13. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Service, applicable laws, or our data practices. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by sending a notification through the app or by email.

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
