സഫർ നമസ്കാരം: തെറ്റിദ്ധാരണകളും യാഥാർത്ഥ്യവും
Qaṣr means I can shorten every single prayer during travel.
Qaṣr applies ONLY to 4-Rak‘at Fard prayers (Zuhr, Asr, Isha). Fajr (2 Rak‘at), Maghrib (3 Rak‘at), and Witr (3 Rak‘at) are never shortened.
Qaṣr is just an optional convenience; I can pray 4 Rak‘at if I want.
For a Shar‘i Musafir performing Salah individually or leading as Imam, Qaṣr is Wajib (obligatory). Intentionally praying 4 Rak‘at without following a local Imam is a sin.
A traveller always prays 2 Rak‘at even behind a local/resident Imam.
If a traveller joins a Jamaat led by a local (Muqeem) Imam within the prayer time, the traveller MUST follow the Imam and perform all 4 Rak‘at.
Everyone praying behind a traveller Imam automatically prays only 2 Rak‘at.
Travellers finish with the Imam after 2 Rak‘at, but local followers MUST stand up after the Imam's Salam and complete the remaining 2 Rak‘at.
If I return home after missing a prayer during travel, I must pray 4 Rak‘at Qaza.
Qaza is performed according to the status when the prayer was missed. A prayer missed while travelling is performed as 2 Rak‘at Qaza even after returning home.
If the Imam's Wudu breaks, he can hand over the Jamaat to anyone standing nearby.
Istikhlaf (appointing a replacement Imam) has strict fiqh conditions. The replacement MUST be a qualified person who joined the Jamaat from the beginning or is eligible.
