Surah Al-Masad

سورة المسد

Surah #1115 VersesMeccanJuz 30
Translation:

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Ayah 1Juz 3

تَبَّتۡ يَدَآ أَبِي لَهَبٖ وَتَبَّ ﴿١

May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he

Ayah 2Juz 3

مَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ ﴿٢

His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained

Ayah 3Juz 3

سَيَصۡلَىٰ نَارٗا ذَاتَ لَهَبٖ ﴿٣

He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame

Ayah 4Juz 3

وَٱمۡرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلۡحَطَبِ ﴿٤

And his wife [as well] - the carrier of firewood

Ayah 5Juz 3

فِي جِيدِهَا حَبۡلٞ مِّن مَّسَدِۭ ﴿٥

Around her neck is a rope of [twisted] fiber

About Surah Al-Masad

Surah Al-Masad (also known as Surah Al-Lahab) was revealed when Abu Lahab openly cursed Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) on Mount Safa. The Surah condemned Abu Lahab and his wife for their fierce opposition to Islam, fulfilling a miraculous prophecy as neither ever accepted faith before their deaths.
