Surah Al-Masad
سورة المسد
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
تَبَّتۡ يَدَآ أَبِي لَهَبٖ وَتَبَّ ﴿١﴾
May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he
مَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ ﴿٢﴾
His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained
سَيَصۡلَىٰ نَارٗا ذَاتَ لَهَبٖ ﴿٣﴾
He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame
وَٱمۡرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلۡحَطَبِ ﴿٤﴾
And his wife [as well] - the carrier of firewood
فِي جِيدِهَا حَبۡلٞ مِّن مَّسَدِۭ ﴿٥﴾
Around her neck is a rope of [twisted] fiber
About Surah Al-Masad
Surah Al-Masad (also known as Surah Al-Lahab) was revealed when Abu Lahab openly cursed Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) on Mount Safa. The Surah condemned Abu Lahab and his wife for their fierce opposition to Islam, fulfilling a miraculous prophecy as neither ever accepted faith before their deaths.
