Episode 02 — The Divine Command of Sacrifice & Constructing the Kaaba

As Prophet Ismail grew into a young man, Prophet Ibrahim experienced a recurring dream for three consecutive nights in which he was commanded to sacrifice his most beloved son. In Islamic jurisprudence, the dreams of Prophets are divine revelations (Wahy).

Prophet Ibrahim consulted his young son Ismail: "O my son, I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you, so see what you think." Without fear or hesitation, Prophet Ismail replied with complete submission: "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the patient." (Surah As-Saffat 37:102).

When Satan attempted to whisper doubt to them at Mina, both father and son pelted Satan with stones at three spots — establishing the Sunnah of Ramy al-Jamarat during Hajj.

At Mina, as Prophet Ibrahim laid his son down and placed the knife upon his throat, Allah Almighty accepted their supreme devotion. The knife would not cut by divine decree. Angel Jibril descended from Paradise bearing a noble horned Ram to be slaughtered as a ransom (Fidyah). Allah declared: "O Ibrahim, You have fulfilled the vision! Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good." (Surah As-Saffat 37:104-105).

Following this trial, Allah commanded Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail to raise the foundations of the Holy Kaaba in Makkah. As they laid the sacred stones, including the Maqam Ibrahim and Hajr-e-Aswad, they recited the humble supplication: "Our Lord, accept this from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing." (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:127).
