Episode 01 — The First Islamic Envoy to China

"The historic voyage of Hazrat Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (R.A.) during the Tang Dynasty and the founding of Huaisheng Mosque in Guangzhou, China."

Long before modern transport connected Asia, the light of Islam reached China during the era of the Rightly Guided Caliphs. Hazrat Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (R.A.), one of the ten promised Paradise (Ashara Mubashshara) and a maternal uncle of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, led an envoy across the maritime Silk Road to China during the Tang Dynasty.

Emperor Gaozong received the Muslim delegation in Chang'an with great respect, granting permission to establish the first mosque in China — the famous Huaisheng Mosque (Lighthouse Mosque) in Guangzhou. Hazrat Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas spent years teaching Islamic character, honesty, and devotion to local communities.

Dawat-e-Islami's Faizan-e-Sahaba literature (Maktaba-tul-Madinah) highlights the extraordinary dedication of Sahaba who traveled thousands of miles across oceans to spread the message of Allah.
