Surah Al-Fil
سورة الفيل
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
أَلَمۡ تَرَ كَيۡفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصۡحَٰبِ ٱلۡفِيلِ ﴿١﴾
Have you not considered, [O Muhammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant
أَلَمۡ يَجۡعَلۡ كَيۡدَهُمۡ فِي تَضۡلِيلٖ ﴿٢﴾
Did He not make their plan into misguidance
وَأَرۡسَلَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ طَيۡرًا أَبَابِيلَ ﴿٣﴾
And He sent against them birds in flocks
تَرۡمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٖ مِّن سِجِّيلٖ ﴿٤﴾
Striking them with stones of hard clay
فَجَعَلَهُمۡ كَعَصۡفٖ مَّأۡكُولِۭ ﴿٥﴾
And He made them like eaten straw
About Surah Al-Fil
Surah Al-Fil commemorates the miraculous event in the Year of the Elephant (the birth year of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) when Abraha's army marched to destroy the Kaaba. Allah dispatched flights of birds (Ababeel) carrying stones of baked clay, turning the attackers into eaten straw.
